The main Characters
Verity Crawford
She is the writer of a very popular book series, called The Noble Virtues series. Verity was raised in an insanely religious family, but her parents found out that she was writing thriller and suspense novels. If she didn’t stop writing these kinds of books, they would never speak to her again. She didn’t stop writing these kinds of books because she loved writing, so they cut her out of their lives. Later in verity’s life, she got into a car accident, but Verity was still alive, she was just unresponsive. She couldn’t finish her book series because three books still needed to be written. That’s when Lowen Ashleigh came into the picture.
Lowen Ashleigh
A woman that is portrayed in the book as an awkward and self-deprecating person. She is in her early thirties that lives in New York City. She is a writer but not the kind you normally read about. There is never a point in her writing process when she feels like she accomplished what she wanted to accomplish. She describes herself as an awkward writer who would say, “It’s an okay book. Read if you want”. Lowen has been occupied with taking care of her mother for much of the last year because her mom is diagnosed with terminal cancer. When Jeremy Crawford -verity’s husband- wants to hire Lowen to write the last three novels of Verity’s series, she accepts the offer. For the money but also for the weird attraction, she feels toward Jeremy. Jeremy offers her to stay at their home so she can sort through some notes and outlines that may help her write the last three novels. Because Lowen doesn’t have much money and because of that doesn’t really have a choice, she accepts this generous offer and arrives at the Crawford home. But when she finds an autobiography written by verity in her office, Lowen discovers something really really dark.
Jeremy Crawford
The husband of bestselling author Verity Crawford. Jeremy was a very caring and loving father/husband. He still is but he changes after the death of his two daughters, Chastin, and harper. Even though he has been through a lot with the death of his daughters and the car accident verity was in, he still was a good and caring man. His wife's series needed to be finished so he hired Lowen Ashleigh to write the last three novels. Jeremy invited her to their home where he lives with verity and his son Crew in Vermont.
My thoughts
When I finished this book, I was so so shocked. I read Layla by Colleen Hoover which made my jaw drop but this book. This book was more insane than Layla, it was so crazy. I really enjoyed it though because I love to read these kinda books that make you scared. I literally got goosebumps at some parts in the book because it was so scary. Also, something I love in this book is that it includes romance and thriller. Those two are a perfect combination if you would ask me.
Verity was such an amazing, scary, and shocking book. I loved it! How does Colleen Hoover come up with these kinds of plot twists?

Manuscript
When I read the manuscript, I got so mad, I couldn’t believe what I was reading. How could she talk about her kids like that and how could she feel so hateful towards them? In my opinion, verity was just being selfish when she couldn’t handle it that Jeremy would love his kids more than her. I think it’s normal for parents to love their kids more than their partners. I mean, that’s your blood. Verity acted like the twins were her enemy because Jeremy’s attention would mostly be on the twins, and she didn’t like that. It made me so mad and even angrier when she started hating Harper because of a dream she had. I was sure that she was a psychopath. The manuscript was just insane, and it made me mad every time Lowen picked it up. But then, I read the letter.
Letter
When Lowen read the letter, I was flabbergasted. I could not believe what I was reading. At first, it sounded logical that she wrote the manuscript as an exercise to improve her writing but then after I thought about it more the letter just didn’t make send to me. The first thing I thought about was that Verity, Crew, and Harper were in the canoe and verity said to the crew to hold his breath. Crew told Jeremy that Verity said that to him in the canoe. Why would she say that if she wasn’t planning on looping over the canoe and I don’t think Crew would make something up like that. It just doesn’t make sense because why would Crew make that up? He doesn’t get anything out of it. Also, Chastin’s scar, how did she get that if it wasn’t for how it was explained in the manuscript. When I thought about those things, I just knew that the letter was a gaslight move. I think verity wrote the letter because she saw that Lowen read the manuscript and knew everything that she did. And an autobiography is a story of the life of a person, written by that person himself. If she wrote it to improve her writing, then why did she call it an autobiography?

This book was so good, and I would definitely recommend it! I’m literally speechless with how Colleen Hoover does this every time. Amazing, just an amazing author. I would give verity a 5/5 rate.
